Apple Cinema Display 30" blue lines on dark bg sites

So I have recently started to notice this on my Apple Cinema Display 30" - it only appears whilst surfing the web, specifically sites with dark backgrounds.

My graphics card was recently replaced with a new AMD Radeon HD 7870. I'm running my CDisplay at 2560 x 1600 and a single Samsung monitor portrait at 1080 x 1920 .. any ideas what this is? It only appears on my CDisplay which concerns me (I'm running the DVI cable into the first DVI/VGA support option on my card, then my Samsung is using a mini displayport adapter)

update: I shut the machine down including the screen, unplugged all cables and left it for a little while. The result? It's gone.. I guess it was a heat issue maybe?

I do however have another question, currently my largest screen is plugged into the DVI (with VGA support) port - this is allowing me to bump the resolution up to 2560 x 1600, yet if I plug the same screen into the DVI (digital only) port the biggest resolution I can use is 1280 x 800 - obviously it would be wise to use the digital only port as the monitor only uses digital inputs and not analog, so that's why I'm sort of stumbled by this mystery.
