I have been wanting a gaming pc for quite some time now. I have been doing a lot of research, and I don't think I am ready to physically build my own pc, so I decided to customize it on this website

http://www.magicmicro.com/

I'm still very unfamiliar to things like SLI v. Crossfire and overclocking.

Price: Under $1000

Use: Gaming (Skyrim, Battlefield, DayZ, minecraft)

Parts needed: monitor

Overclocking: Not familiar with it so not anytime soon

Country: US

Preference: I've been told by some friends that AMD products are not so good and to stay away from them

Notes: I also want to run a minecraft server. Would I need 16 gbs of ram to run the server and a mod like unbelievable shaders? I also don't know much about ivy and sandy bridge cpus.

Thank you

Friends seldom give good advice. The FX-8350 is probably best route for you.

Also, I understand that the first build may seem daunting but consider it a learning experience. There isn't much to the build beyond connecting components and installing an OS if you don't overclock. There is plenty of help for you if you run into any hurdles :)

Not really. If you're gaming Intel would be a far better route than AMD would.

Here's what I would suggest:

Since you are not overclocking, you can pickup a cooler down the line since AMD stock coolers are not all that great. I wasn't sure if you needed the OS as well in that price point. You can always pickup a SSD/CPU cooler if the OS wasn't in the budget.

Yeah but if you're not overclocking then wouldn't that make the FX-8350 a wasted purchase anyways? If you're not overclocking you could get an Intel i5-4430 and save some money there.

There are no locked versions of the FX series. Even when it isn't overclocked, the FX-8350 still provides the best performance out of the FX lineup. Considering that the OP wants to run a minecraft server, the extra cores would be useful.
