my pc has been randomly freezing on my, no error messages no sounds. it just hard locks at random moments.

after doing some research I've found that it could be ram issues. so i ran memtest for 8hours while i was at work and it completed 4 passes with no errors. i then began switching around my hardrives to see if they could be causing any issues, but to no avail.

now after further digging around people have mentioned that if the ram in your pc is not being fed enough juice it can cause the pc to randomly freeze. i have googled searched the ram i have but i can't find how many volts it needs.

my system defaulted my sticks to 1.5v but i've seen other number thrown around such as 1.65v all the way to 2.1v.

how do i find out how many volts my ram needs, because this seems like the next thing on my list of potential culprits.

my ram: 4x A-DATA Gaming Series PC3-12800 (1600MHz) 8GB Kit

edit: ill have to get back to you on model# for my ram and motherboard, but my ram is 4x 8gb sticks, my processor is an intel i7 3820

That looks like a IC number or something A-data's model #s are on the order of AX3U1600GC4G9-2G or AX3U1600GW8G9-2G, anyway most all of their 1600 gaming sticks are generally 1.5 - if you get the exact model #, can simply google it and look at the specs

You say 4x and also say 8GB kit - what is it 4 - 8GB sticks, or 4 sets of 2x4GB or what? Adata has more than 1 Gaming series set in 1600 what actual model #/set or sets do you have? You're giving us nothing here to work with. Also what mobo and CPU are you using, big difference between AMD and Intel and even within each Brand.
