Hey guys,

I'm about to make purchase the parts for my new desktop soon.

My question basically stems from the fact that I know very very little about motherboards. The motherboard in question is the MSI B85M-P33.

I'm getting an i5 4570 and beyond making sure that it fits into the motherboard, I really don't know what else to look for. I'm not planning on SLI'ing so the single pci express port isn't a concern.

Sorry if it's a stupid question but it's one of the cheaper boards and there was only one review on it, so I just wanted to make sure I'm not missing something obvious.

Thanks a lot!

Chris

I've included my parts list below for reference.

Solution
MSI B85M-P33 is simply a MSI H61M P31 with H61 chipset swapped for a B85 and LGA1155 swapped for LGA1150 socket, with even some components like chokes removed to lower the cost. It even lack some essential features on any B85 boards like 20-pin front USB 3.0 header ( without this, the usb3.0 port on the Source 210 Elite you picked becomes unusable ). I suggest not going cheap on motherboard and get an Asrock H87 Pro3 instead ( which is being priced very low atm, on par with the Asrock B85M ), which will offer more features and stability for your system. As for your build, I also changed the PSU for a CX600 v2 which is also on sale right now. More wattage never hurts.

Got it. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll definitely make the switch regarding the motherboard.

Is there a reason to up my power supply? Or just in case I upgrade in the future? The one you linked looks really well priced but I'm really trying to get a semi-mod or mod PSU.

Although, I might still upgrade to a Corsair CX500M simply because the 430M that I had selected before only has 1 pcie cable included and if I'm right, those are like $10 anyway.

Yes higher wattage PSU so that you can upgrade to a more power-hungry VGA card later.

The CX 500m is around 55$ and if you want modular cables plus more room to upgrade later then just go for it. You won't regret it.
