Hello guys,

i have an exercise here, and i would like to know whats best specs or other components are needed with this setup:

•Windows 2008R2 server
•60G free disk space
•4G RAM
•RDP from access for installation and administrative tasks (extranet)
•Administrator Account for installation and administrative tasks
• HTTP access intranet and extranet to the server
•RTMP (port 1935) access intranet and extranet to the server

-I'm going to use this in 20 end user PCs, only few hours/day like 2-3 hours & 1 PC server
-Using browser from the end user PC to access web app in local server which is also connected to the website abroad

Does Core i7 enough or do i need Xeon processors?

looking forward from your answers.

thanks a lot.

Update question:
- I am planning to use Desktop PC for a Server and what CAL is recommended? Thanks.

If you're going socket 1155 or 1150 the xeon is actually cheaper than an i7 by about 100$ for something comparable.

Also plenty of cheap but excellent dell and hp servers on ebay that are a gen or two old that will do all that. For example I picked up a power edge 2950 for ~300$ that had dual quads 2.66ghz , raid card, 6 160g sas drives, 8 gigs of ram and it came with a legal copy of 2008r2. Also nabbed a t7400 precision tossed two 3ghz quads and 16 gigs of ram along with a raid card for about 350 total as well and I use that as a home server, nice and silent. They are older but completely serviceable.

Personally I prefer per user instead of device. But that really comes down to your environment and what you plan on doing and what devices you're going to have floating around. If there's no remote access besides you and people are just logining in at their workstations you might get better mileage out of per device.
