so a friend of mine build my computer around 3 years ago. it was quite fast then but now it struggles to play any new game (guild wars 2) on anything above low graphics, and when i crank it up the graphics card overheats and causes the computer to freeze.
However i would like to be able to run it at a fairly good graphics level and so am looking for a new graphics card...

here are my specs;
Intel core duo E8400 @3.00GHz
4GB Ram
Nvidia 9800GT
Motherboard: gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L
Windows 7 64bit

My question is what is the best graphics card i can get for around £50-£80? (and will i see much change?)
Also will i need to do something about my motherboard as is it possible that a more powerful graphics card might not be compatible?

9800GT and GT640 are pretty similar in performance. Can you get the 7750 or 7770? The 7770 would be a good upgrade.

But EVGA GTX 650 has 1.6 GHz @ £ 86.99
And
EVGA GTX 650 1.15 GHz @ £ 90.56
I hope it helps.
