Video Streaming options

I hope this is the right place, if not if the mods can move it to the right place and let me know where it is, that would be great.

So I am volunteering for a group who want to do video streaming such as provided by Ustream and Livestream. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with either one and can list pro's and cons of each service. We are going for the cheapest option which also gives us flexibility and a good reliable stream. If anyone can help me with this I would REALLY appreciate it as I'm pretty new to the whole video streaming process.

If there are any other reliable options or hardware that is fairly easy to use and that is inexpensive, I would love to hear about them. I'm not sure on capacity and for whatever strange reason my boss won't give me spec's on her machine or digital video camera although she says it's reasonably high end. I apologize for lack of specifics its maddening to me too I told her I couldn't reliably quote her with a system and that I will be assuming her machine and camera can handle it. So assuming we have the goods, please let me know what options you suggest and why along with a price range. I sooooo appreciate it guys and gals!

Ustream you can use for free with ads on the stream, but the options are a bit limited and for HD streaming you'd want the paid service with better support and good bandwidth at the site. Have not tried anything else myself.

What paid option did you use if I may ask? Did you have any problems? Also do you need to buy special equipment in addition to a sufficient PC and digital video camera? For instance I notice they sell a Broadcaster device. Is this required to stream? Thanks!
