I've just built myself a new rig and have decided to buy a second palit 560ti 2GB to SLI with my existing one, but having entered my specs in the 'Thermaltake Power Supply Calculator' it came back as requiring 1008 watts. I'm not sure how accurate those things are, so I was hoping for a second opinion. Specifications are:

OCZ 1000w ZX Series '80 plus gold' PSU
Asus sabertooth X79
Intel i7 3930k
32GB corsair dominator ram (4x8) will upgrade to 64GB shortly (8x8)
Corsair H100i cooling
1x 2TB 72,000 rpm hdd
1x 1TB 72,000 rpm hdd
1x 240Gb ssd
2x palit GTX 560ti (sli)
LG Blu ray writer/burner
3x 120mm fans
1x 140mm fan
3x 200mm fans (with LEDs)
Fan controller
1x USB device using power (audio interface)

I'm wondering if, as thermaltake are looking to sell you a PSU, their calculator might be inclined to push you towards a more expensive one ;)

That OCZ will easily power that setup.

The wattage is overkill, the brand I'd avoid.

http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt...

Ya need 500 watts for system w/ 1st GPU and another 170 watts for the 2nd .... Id do a 750 id ya "going stock" and 850 if overclocking.

I got 696 watts recommended size using this:

http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine

I'd go with an HX850
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Id also drop the H series cooler and go with a Phanteks
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Wow....72000 rpm HD's .... where'd ya find those :)

Thanks for that. I've already built the rig though, just waiting for the second card. Only went with the OCZ because it was cheaper, probably should have learned my lesson when the one in my old rig went bang, oh well. Never been good with numbers, my PC would probably be hovering 6 feet off the ground if my hard drives were spinning that fast:wahoo:
