Hi guys
I just recently purchased an h100i to assist me in overclocking my 3570k
I followed all the steps and it looks like it is working from the outside perspective (the lights are on, fans running etc.)
i followed the steps here
http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=693613)?
to bring my 3570 to 4.5 ghz
however, i am getting around ~40C on idle
and when i run prime 95 blend i go all the way to 100C for all the cores
Could you guys help me figure out why the temperatures are so high when i know the h100i is a great cooler?

Solution

OK here : From one of my previous threads.

1. Disable all power saving adn turbo boost features and pick a load calibration, 1 being very stiff and one voltage constantly, 2 being a little more relax(easier to achieve stability), i prefer level 2.
2. Set voltage to fixed at first and drop it to 0.9v. (You can do this with stock cooling as it...

my llc level is on high since there are no numerical values in the asus uefi menus.
what voltages would you suggest me use?

ok i set voltage to 1.26
computer booted fine
however when i tried to run prime 95 computer froze and blue screened
do you think it might be a faulty h100i?
this is my second h100i ive had, the first one having a bad sata plug.

yeah 1.28 doesnt work either
blue screens and gives me different errors each time
first time was sys32 and the second time was memory management

just a few clarifications
should i be running the cpu voltage on offset mode or manual
also how would i set up the xmp profiles
ive heard of those but i never got to find out what they were and or how to enable them
system specs are at the top

XMP should be somewhere in your BIOS, just enable it.
Keep manual fixed mode.

what voltage would you recommend me start at now?

OK here : From one of my previous threads.

1. Disable all power saving adn turbo boost features and pick a load calibration, 1 being very stiff and one voltage constantly, 2 being a little more relax(easier to achieve stability), i prefer level 2.
2. Set voltage to fixed at first and drop it to 0.9v. (You can do this with stock cooling as it reduces heat generation)
3. Boot into windows and run prime 95 or similar stresstest to test for stability for atleast half an hour. This will give you an idea of how sensitive your specific CPU is to voltage change. (You can do this with stock cooling as it reduces heat generation)
4. Increase your voltage to 1.2v and multiplyer to 4.2GHz. Test thoroughly for an hour. Keep a close eye on temps with real temp or HWmonitor.

After that you can increase Multiplier one at a time testing for half an hour between each bump. When stability is lost, add 0.05v and try again.

Repeat process until you reach your desired OC or unacceptable temps(drop one clock and/or Voltage) and viola you have your OC...

DO NOT EXCEED 1.3V! Also keep temps under 90C under max load. Although if it touches over it its still fine. It will shut of automatically if it gets TOO hot(103C).

Ignore step 2 and 3 if you like.

Thank you so much for helping me.
Also as a side note, I finally realized how useful it would be to have a good ssd to help with the boot times XD
will now consider getting one
