Now I have a 955 and a 6870(Recently got tricked into buying, please curse the shopkeeper with me; may he die the most painful deaht imaginable)

So yeah, fx 4/6/8xxx series have been out for a while and the other phenoms arent much of an upgrade
Similarly in graphics, I'm not sure about anything.

955 isn't a bad chip, i'd say wait for steamroller to come out. That chip will be a big change compared to your 955 which in reality still can take modern games with no problem.

Graphics cards, i'd say same thing, wait until the 8xxx series come out, and if you're going mid-high end gaming, 8750-8770 should be totally fine for you.

I predict 8770 would be a rebrand, based on how 6770 was a rebrand of 5770 and only in the next-next generation did they actually upgrade :\ Even with improvements, one can't spend money on anything less than 50-100% improvement at the minimum.

the 8770 is utilizing the GCN architecture which was introduced on the 7xxx series. So it won't be much of a rebrand, it'll be more of an update with probably 10% improvement over the last generation, so pretty close to the 7850 wise. AMD is just going crazy lately with next gen gaming. So Steamroller and Radeon 8xxx will be the staple in gaming for quite some time because of the PS4/XBone utilizing the Jaguar/Kabini chipset which is derived from the 3rd gen FX and A series design. Im pretty positive that they will be a big difference compared to the generations prior. More integration into the mainstream with optimizations from game developers, software designers using AMD specific functions.
