Best SSD for desktop with SATA2.

I understand that most SSDs are SATA3 but compatible with SATA2 ports.
My question is, which SSD would is the best for SATA2 speeds?
Would I be paying too much money for say a Plextor m5 pro Xtreme? (cheaper than non xtreme somehow) would I be getting extra capacity that I won't use?

Would I be better off getting a Plextor M5s instead?

Alright then. If you had to choose between the cheaper M5S and the 840, which would you choose?
 
I normally recommend Samsung due to their proven track record and reliability. Crucial, Intel, and Plextor are also worth considering.
