Im gonna have a friend build me a pc and i need to choose the parts i have a budget of 2300 dollars. Its going to be for playing games on max settings, rendering videos and live streaming. Only the pc no mouse no more stuff.

Preferences:

Intel over and : i thought of the 4770k i7

nvidia over amd : thought of the 780

motherboard: i like the asus don't know which.

Cpu cooler: i like the liquid cooling thought of the h100i or h110(case must be big lol for h110)

ram: 16gb got a large budget sooo why not.

hard drive i wanted 1 HDD and 1 SSD(samsung 840 pro series)

Optical drive a bluray 1 why not

These are all my preferences and what i think please i look for performance not price/performance just saty near my budget dosent matter if u go over a bit.

CPU: I would go extreme edition for this price... Probably a 3930k- $500
Motherboard: Asus P9 X79 Pro- $300
GPU: Get dual 770's instead of a 780; you'll get much better performance. $800
RAM: Get Crosair Vengeance Pro RAM- $150
HDD: Just get any 2 TB, 64 MB cache- $100
SSD: For that budget, a 256 GB Samsung 840 pro Series- $250
Cooler: Depending on case, either H100 or H110- $100
Case: Corsair Obsidian 800D/900D (because why not)- $300

TOTAL: $2500
However, you could easily cut down on the case (since it is enormous) and still be alright. :)
EDIT: If you ever plan on triple-SLI'ing, then go for the Asus P9 X79 WS for $500- it can support true quad-SLI (and therefore true tri-SLI). :)

I recommend dual 770's now. Tri 770 is less than dual 780, and it will wreck it. However, that would involve an extra couple hundred bucks for the MoBo that supports it... so you'd get much more power, but ~$200 more for the motherboard.
And yes, the 650D is great. I have it for my personal build. However, for anything of this caliber it is way too small.

I completely disagree. There is no reason for him to not go Extreme Edition, especially with this price point. IMO, it is extremely stupid to have a $250 processor (an i5 nonetheless) on a computer which costs ten times more.
Also, cheap Asus motherboards don't tend to be very good. I stick with what I said previously.

Go one monitor or three unless the second is only for teamspeak, web, etc. Two leaves a huge craptastic bezel in the middle.

Are trying to spend that much or that just the limit? If only ever going two gpus could drop down to haswell and save a ton.

Agreed on the monitors. However, if he's willing to spend that much money, it can never hurt to have a practically future-proof system...

If your motherboard is good, then yeah the case is awesome for it
In a few days, I will actually be running dual-SLI in mine
It's a great case

A 4670k? Not really... It is a mediocre CPU now, and it will only get worse as time progresses. If the man asks for a $2300 build, give him the best build he can get for $2300, don't necessarily try to bargain-hunt for less performance. In my opinion, just get the Extreme Edition CPU, as it will last him much longer.

I'd like to see where the EE CPU beats up on IB or HW with two current cards in SLI. Not saying it doesn't happen, just haven't seen it. Just because you can spend that much doesn't mean you should, especially if there are significantly diminishing returns. It's like with expensive motherboards - article a few months ago showing no appreciable frame rate difference regardless of how much they cost. My $90-in-a-bundle board was right in the middle of $300 boards.

But the bottom line is if he is intent on shelling out that much, it's his money.

Believe me, I completely agree. If I could find a reliable $100 motherboard which supports 2011 and has reasonable SLI support, i would recommend it. I simply think that if he's going to go EE, there is no reason to NOT get a nice motherboard...

I'll actually not have any internet on the 26th (switching companies, so there's some overlap), but I get it on the 30th. Would that be okay?
