so I am looking to buy a nvidia shield when it is realesed soon. right now ihave agtx 580 and a gtx 650. i have to have a 600 sieries graphics card to stream to the shield, but the 650 is very slow compared to the gtx 580. can I have the 650 in the same rig as the 580 and stream to the shield.

I think you answered your own question. But may I ask why would you want to play PC games on a handheld LOL.

how in the world did I answer my own question?! also, Think it would be cool to play skyrim or whatever without lugging my massive gaming pc up to my room or to the basement. alkso, the android gaming also looks pretty cool.

It works only on new cards. The 650 is much to slow.

I am certian that it will work on the 650, I want to know if i can use the same cards in one rig at one time. you clearly dont know jack s@#% about this do you...

As far as I know the Shield will only work on a Kepler card. I assume that means you can't run it on a GTX 580 even if you have a Kepler based card inside. I would go on ebay, sell the GTX 580, and use whatever you were going to spend on a GTX 650 to buy a 660 ti or better if you can.

You can get $180 at least out of a GTX 580 on ebay. I've even saw them sell for as much as $400 this month but that's rare and probably was bought by a confused and/or misinformed buyer. Plus with the $100 or so you would have spent on a GTX 650 you would have $280 to spend on a new graphics card. That makes this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121656 the perfect choice for you.

I just realized you already have the 650. Sell it or send it back for a refund.. And get a 660 ti. It's a decent upgrade to the GTX 580 plus you will be able to stream games to the shield.

Best to just wait for shield to come out mate and that way you will know for sure. Right now it's all speculation but I would say wait until someone does a proper review and benchmark on shield and then see if it's something that's even worth it to bother with.

thank you. good to know that at least someone on this forum knows what they are talking about. I already have 650 from upgrading my little sisters rig. I went with a 7850 for her and wish i had gone with a nvidia card so i could swap out my 580 with her.

Best to wait and see before you sell anything. The GTX 580 is still a great card and I see no sense in running out and selling proper good gaming gear for something that's not even available for purchase.
