computer hangs after installing graphic card

Hello everyone i recently purchased a computer...asus m5a88-m, 4gb ram (2), amd fx-4100 (quad core) processor, 1tb hard disk, but the performance is not up to the mark..after putting it for service, formatting the entire hard-disk and installing fresh copy of win7 i installed ati radeon 5450 video card hoping thar i can get the speed i want..but the computer hangs on startup screen...so i took out the video card and the computer works fine...what could be the reason..please help.

that gpu is probably fried, crack and high in dope. also, you need to invest for a much better gpu. the 5450 fails as a gaming card not to mention its already 2 generations old. the cheapest one i can recommend to you is the HD7750 (also an AMD card) or even better - the GTX 650ti (courtesy of Nvidia) or the HD7770. if you can stretch out your budget you can dip your toes into the $200+ gpus. but please don't ever as in ever put that 5450 inside of your pc again. and it is not up to par to your expectations because you don't have a decent gpu. GPU GPU GPU, get a decent one! :D

and to answer your question on a serious note: your 5450 is probably dead, finito, done deal, DOA, in a "finish him" kind of situation where i, yours truly, will be forced to do a nasty fatality. flawless victory.
