Just switched to pc gaming from console. Looking for some games to try out...requirements aren't a issue

I've played half life 2,deus ex, and a little tomb raider(So good)

I enjoy open world(sand box type games) when I was on console I played mostly fps's.

Looking to branch out. Don't wanna miss any good titles. Suggestions please!!

There's MineCraft. Never played it myself, but it is a popular open world sandbox game.

There's the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. It's a bit of a mixed linear and open world. However, the problem with Stalker is that to have to be disciplined enough to read through journals to understand the game's story. If you do not like reading stuff within the game then it may not be the best game to consider. It is more or less a low budget game developed by GSC Game World, a Ukrainian video game developer. Therefore, nothing was really spent on voice actors.

I haven't played Metro 2033 or Last Light, but from what I've read Metro is linear, not open world sandbox.

Fallout 3 and...

Just Cause 2 is good, so far I have played the PS3 version, and its pretty nice, Arma II / Dayz mod, both are good.

x3 series (terran conflict or albion prelude) if you want open world plus space flight sim.
You start out with one small plane and move up to gigantic fleet, including building factories to sell items as well as keeping supplies for your vast fleet (for war and trading). Some people refer it as "spreadsheet in space", mainly due to lots of calculation...

Gothic 1/2, Two Worlds 1, The Witcher, ARMA/Operation Flashpoint 1, STALKER, Fallout 1/2, Icewind Dale 1/2, Planescape Torment, Chronicles of Riddick, Supreme Commander 1, Morrowind, Diablo 2, Age of Empires 3, Crysis 1, Dear Esther, Just Cause 2, Deus Ex 1, Dragon Age: Origins, Mafia 1, Magicka, RAGE, Tomb Raider games before the off-track reboot, all games from Obsidian, all games from Valve (Half-Life mostly, of course) ...

You've probably played most modern openworld and/or sandbox games there are, like Skyrim, GTA4, Saint's Row, Sleeping Dogs, Assassin's Creed, Fallout 3, Batman, Borderlands, Dark Souls (PC port is terrible), Far Cry 3, ....etc.

@whoever suggested RDR: Are you daft?

You could try Just Cause 2, Battlefield 3, Nexuiz (Nobody really plays anymore, it runs on Cryengine3.), and Bioshock infinite. Whatever suits your style. I like to play sandbox games with good graphics and a great storyline.

Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are other open world RPG games. I prefer FO3 to FO:NV. The FO3 world is much larger and to me, more fun to play. FO:NV had the tighter story, but it did not really hold my interest for very long. I played FO3 four times. The 4th time was after I kinda gave up on FO:NV in the middle of my 2nd play through.

I believe Borderlands fits into the open world theme.
