Hi, I am thinking about buying a new CPU heatsink, I currently have the intel stock cooler and I want to upgrade, here are my choices:

What I need it for:

over clocking? very lightly (slightly tweaking turbo frequency)
water cooling? I don't think so, to much of a hassle
price range? $0-$35 AUD

I was thinking of this: http://www.computeralliance.com.au/deepcool-gammaxx-400-heatsink-and-fan

thanks
also I don't like buying online, I rather retail stores but I don't mind.

Specs:
CPU: intel i5 3470
GPU: GT 640
PSU: OCZ 700WATT
HDD: WD Blue 1TB
SSD: Kingston 120GB
RAM: Kingston 8GB Genesis Hyper X
Case: Thermaltake Chaser A31

Solution
1 simple thing is that the EVO has better performance, which is proven through many reviews ( you can check Frostytech.com , they have both the gammaxx 400 and the Hyper 212 EVO in their database ). Considering that the 212 Evo is exact 35$ in pccasegear, you should give it a try even if you have online stores.
Pretty much any cooler is going to be better than Intels. I like Arctic Cooling, Cooler Master and Xigametek as they are great coolers for the money. Thing is, your cpu is not unlocked and the only way to overclock it is to up the blk. I would stay away from that though as its easy to cause instability. I pretty much exclusively use CoolerMaster 212 EVOs and watercooling. Even the Xeon based (which also cant be overlcocked) chips get the CM EVO as it cools very quietly.

mate, I overclocked my i5 3470 to a maximum turbo frequency of 4.6GHZ, the temps were about 80-90 degrees Celsius. after I accomplished that I restored my BIOS to default because the system was no doubt unstable but at the moment my CPU is simmering at about 4GHZ turbo freq with no problems.

Overclocking lightly isn't gonna make your processor explode or anything. Your choice should work fine. Make sure you get some good thermal compound so the heat can get transferred to your new heatsink well, AND beware to make very sure your cooler fits ok in your computer case. (I made that mistake in the past)

ok, you reckon this: http://www.computeralliance.com.au/deepcool-gammaxx-400-heatsink-and-fan

will fit in this?: http://www.thermaltake.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00001951

also, my CPU already has thermal paste from my intel cooler, will I need to replace it?
