Any laptop with a 2nd generation Sandy Bridge (Intel HD 3000) or 3rd generation Ivy Bridge (Intel HD 4000) Core i3/i5/i7 CPU will be able to handle HD video via HDMI. In the AMD camp, any of the Trinity or recently released Richland APUs should be able to handle it.
I'll need to go home to absolutely confirm that my Lenovo IdeaPad Y470 can play back 1080p video using just the Intel HD 3000 which means I need to temporarily disable the nVidia GT 550m. You'll have to wait several hours though.
But... I would just get a laptop with the Intel HD 4000 since those laptops are generally on sale to get rid of the remaining stock since new laptops based on Intel's recently announce 4th gen Haswell Core i5/i7 CPUs have just started to hit the market.
