Hi my specs:

Acer Aspire M7721
Windows 7 Ultimate
Intel Core i7 930
8 GB DDR3 RAM
Geforce GTX 480
Motherboard Acer FX58M

For a few weeks now, my PC keeps overheating. It freezes when playing newer games for a few minutes. HW monitor shows a temperature thats above 80°C / 175°F (idle temperatur!). I assume thats the probleme but I just dont know what that temperature is. See here!
Also I can lower this temperature by about 10° by putting a desk fan next to it.
I don't feel anything being that hot when touching the motherboard.

I have already tried the following:

  • cleaning PC, there is no dust or anything
reapplied thermal compound (on CPU, GPU, north- and southbridge)
    reinstalled windows
    airflow is sufficient

Do I need a new motherboard? Thanks.

Already changed the thermal paste. I'm just gonna buy a new motherboard, since I don't have warranty anymore. Thanks.
