Based on another thread (LINK) it looks like I may need to replace my PSU. My existing one is a Corsair 650W, but it's 4+ years old, so replacing it shouldn't be too unexpected.

Here's what I need:
- PSU > 500W (ideally a 620 or 650W)
- Always on, so something that is energy efficient
- Noise is a factor - Machine is in a spare bedroom
- Will not be under heavy load most of the time, except when I'm doing some video work (use my PC to strip out commercials on recorded TV content)

Any recommendations? Since it's always on, should I go higher than Bronze?

Since you mentioned Energy Efficiency you don't want to buy wattage in excess. That's one way not to waste power. Certainly buy higher than Bronze if the machine means a lot to you. Seasonic is a very popular dependable brand, and I personally bought a PC Power & Cooling Silencer MK3. Quiet as heck and has been mentioned many times for its reliability. I can rec that particular model in 500W or 600W.

Do a wattage calulator to make sure 620+ isnt overkill. Yes, get higher than Bronze if you'd appreciate the security. If you'd rather save $ get a well regarded model. This is usually how I pick:
