My specs:
Intel i5 2500K, stock cooler
Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z
8GB RAM
MSI HD7850 Twin Frozr III 2GB

I think my CPU temps are skyrocketing, i have 40°C in idle (vent 1245 RPM, 1.6 Ghz), 80°C in Prime95 (vent 2100 RPM, 3.7 Ghz).
I just reapplied the thermal paste (one or two grains of rice in the middle) and still the same. I don`t remember having such high CPU temperatures, did my CPU broke? I`ve seen people complaining about 62°C on stock cooler and core speed. I hit the 80`s mark :(

Solution
prime 95 taxes your cpu to the fullest, i wouldn't worry about 80C. if you are normally hitting 80C, while not using prime95, then you have something to worry about.

Try again with a little more thermal paste, try not to push down too hard either. Best thing to do is get an aftermarket cooler and oveclock that processor. If you've already overclocked, that'll be why you're getting those temps with just a stock cooler.

I never overclocked it but thought of getting a nice cooler like Scythe Ninja 3 rev.B

I still want to know if my temps are high for stock cooling. I`ll try modded Skyrim and see how the temps are.

I have 64C in Skyrim, is this normal?

EDIT: In BIOS senors are reading 36C for CPU. As far as i`ve seen, shouldn`t BIOS temps be higher than Windows temps in idle (43-44)?
