The fx 8350 is actually only a four core processor, it has two logical cores to each physical one (four physical x 2 = 8 logical) meaning they share resources and are far less efficient. By the time gaming has evolved to make use of more than the 4 cores, the 8350 will be redundant and low spec anyway, go with the i7 if thats the only difference.

Its possible that you'll be better off with AMD for next gen considering the consoles are using AMD Jaguar processors that presumably closely mimic AMD's PC architecture and will therefore be preferentially optimised by developers over Intel CPU's. 8 cores is the imminent standard for games.

That said, as of right now, Intel has far superior processors for current gen games and also have 8 threads (4 cores, but each core runs two threads ie. hyperthreading) which could place them on par with AMD. I guess theres unfortunately no way of knowing until concrete benchmarks of next gen titles are released towards the end of this year.
