2500k Value at this point in the game

Hello, I'd like to know what others think the value of a i5 2500k is at the moment. I'm thinking of perhaps selling my 2500k with my motherboard and possibly ram so I can take advantage of a deal with micro center. I'm just asking as a curiosity thing. I was thinking cpu/motherboard (asrock z68 extreme4 gen 3) w/o memory 220-250, with memory 250-300.

The i5 2500K OCed performs with the best of the best currently. Even those few people that bough a 990X back in the day are still laughing even though they got ripped off.

Yea, I get the feeling the last huge jump was Sandy Bridge. I just see all this new stuff and it makes me want to jump in while my chip has some value to it left. I'd imagine I'm doing okay though I have my cpu overclocked to 4.2 ghz and I have my memory @ (2x4GB) of DDR3 1600.

Just OC it to 5Ghz on Liquid. If it blows up just get Haswell then.

haha! no I don't want to do that my fractal design define r4 would stop me from getting to 5 ghz. I have a h100i with sp120's on it in push and I can do 4.2 ghz on 1.25v I could probably get near 4.6 ghz if I pushed up to 1.3v but I like keeping my temps under 80c in a stress test ie., prime95, intel burn test, occt. Also, I have a dedicated sound card which affects thermals a little bit.

Fractal is a great case for that.

I have 2x front 140MM AF140 Quiet Edition, 1x Rear AF140MM Quiet Edition, 1x Side 140mm Fractal Design fan, 2x SP120 Quiet Edition (for my h100i) top mounted to pushing air directly out of the case in a push configuration. My temps idle at 30-31 however in a test reach beyond 80 at the max settings/+linpack. Its possible my sound card adds a few degrees to the test I know they can play a role in temps. My old creative sound card I use a xonar dx now would increase my temps a good 5 degrees.
