Hello TH members! Hoping i could get some help and a resolution. My internet has always been choppy and crappy, so we upgraded and got a Comcast IT out here to fix it. Now the connection is fine. I used to own a desktop (2 months ago) then received a refurbished HP Envy 14 Spectre. It's awesome, but i am only getting 200KB/s. Everyone else in my household is getting around 3-4MB/s. When I had my desktop I was getting that same rate, now, with my new laptop, i cant even stream HD video due to 200KB/s. When the man from Comcast came, i told him about the problem, and we went on the Comcast speed test, and it showed his device getting 27MB/s download, and 5MB/s upload, and then we tested my device, and i was only getting 4MB/s download, and 1MB/s upload.
Note: I also bought a new modem/router combo from ZOOM at BestBuy last week. But the cutting on and off was still occurring until yesterday when Comcast came and fixed it. I haven't changed any settings other than set a WPA password onto it. Also, the firmware according to ZOOMs site says that it is automatically by our ISP when needed (also says it is up to date).
So all of this means that this has either something to do with a router setting dealing with my computer, or my actual computer settings itself. But which one? Please help as this is driving me nuts! Ill reply quick so you can get on with your day. Thanks guys and gals
