Hey guys I know this is a longshot but I thought I'd ask anyway.
There was a power surge recently and I had an external HDD plugged in to one of the USB ports in my laptop. Needless to say my computer got zapped. It still works fine but I think that the surge must have taken out the USB host controller. Any USB device I put in gets power but it isn't connecting to the computer. I checked the device manager and it said that the USB host controller had been switched off due to an unspecified error (code 43). I'm pretty sure it's toastied but I was wondering if there was any way to replace it, since it's in a laptop?
