Hey guys sorry if I break any forum etiquette as this is my first post, but I have a question regarding my old outdated laptop. When I originally purchased my Dell Inspiron n5010, it came with an ATI Mobility radeon chip and an i3 without intigrated graphics capability, however about a year ago I replaced the i3 with an i5-460M which does have HD graphics. My question is that since I no longer use this as my main computer, is there a way to enable the HD graphics and completely disable the power sucking discrete card? Ideally I would want to underclock the processor and have it as a low power note taking laptop running mint or something, but from what I understand that isn't a possibility.

i'm not sure about laptops, in a regular desk computer, you only have to enter the BIOS, search for south bridge or graphics set up, and put as the first option IGPU, so the system will work in first place with the integrate HD graphics before another option

try to enter the bios, if its t difficult try to serch for a tutorial or something

here s stuff that you need before entering the BIOS of your laptop

There is no option in the bios for switching graphics, and as the laptop did not initially come with HD graphics to switch to that kind of makes sense to me. I don't even know where I should start since there is no BIOS option.
