Desktop vs Laptop now that Haswell is out

So now that Haswell is out I can rethink what I want to do with a new computer. My current computer is quite old (an E6400 O/C to 2.7G..I think) and it quite long in the tooth. However it is still working well and I use it for only light gaming and Music Recording (Protools LE 8) and web browsing primarily. As such I am considering an option that gets me a laptop instead of a desktop to run more modern software and keep the desktop to do the recording. I don't really need mobility though as I have an ipad which works well for that. I do know that I can get much more computer by building a desktop compared to a laptop and I am comfortable building my own system, but the reviews for updating to Haswell from a desktop standpoint seem mixed so I wondered if it makes more sense if it was a laptop.

Since I'm not in any hurry to upgrade I can take my time and make the best possible decision. I was hoping that the release of Haswell would decrease the prices of the IB but that doesn't seem to be a significant factor. I can see spending ~$1500 in either case (desktop or laptop)

I've never gamed on a laptop so I'm not sure I would like it though with a docking station I can make it desktop like. For recording I don't need the mobility at all so frankly a desktop is more practical albeit more likely a PITA to convert all of the recording software to a new computer. Even if it would run faster since I would go with SSD for the software and 16G RAM to load up all the plugin
