Hi, now this is really annoying. I have a 11 month old custom-built with the Asus M5A97 motherboard and the AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE CPU. It's been running great but this motherboard has been troublesome. Last December, it would start up (with the fans spinning and the hard drive making noise) but it didn't POST. I RMAd the mobo and Asus repaired it by doing something, probably replacing the BIOS ROMs or something. When I got it back, it worked great and has been running pretty well since then. Well, I was using the computer for about 2 hours this evening and it was all good, and I shut it down when I was done. I came back 5 minutes later because there was something else I had to do. Well, I turned it on, and the same exact problem seems to be occurring that happened in December. It appears to be on, but the BIOS splash screen never comes up and there are no beep codes, either. The red MemOK! light doesn't flash either, which it does during a normal boot. I've cleared the CMOS and nothing changed. I'm sure it's the board since the computer worked perfectly right before this happened. I guess the northbridge could have overheated or something, but I wasn't doing anything intensive and even after letting it cool off it still didn't work. I'm probably going to ask Asus to replace the board and give me the R2.0 version (I have the original version) since I'm sure it's less buggy. I know Asus is supposed to be the best in the industry, but it doesn't seem that way given my experience with this board.

Here's the link to the thread I made the last time I had this problem: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/326874-30-post-m5a97

Please give me any advice you think might be helpful.
Thanks!

Better send it back to Asus. Nothing more to try.

Alright thanks, that's what I'll do. I already called them and they sent me a FedEx label so that's nice.
