Hello TomsHardware community, I am putting together a VERY high end build for a buddy of mine. He into heavy gaming, editing and rendering so a beast system is only adequate. Hes getting it within the week so advice is useful. He prefers not to go over $3000 but is a aesthetics nut(hence the sleeved wiring) any advice is apprecated as to the parts list but this is what i came up with...

You should use a Haswell chip (i7-4770K) and a Z87 motherboard. Alternatively, if he's really that into editing and rendering then you might think about basing the build around Sandy Bridge - E parts.

Also, ff you're friend really cares about aesthetics, it seems like a waste to spend so much on the hardware and then go with a very inexpensive case.

Yeah I also think it's a big fail to get a 105$ case and 80$ sleeved cable. I would rather get a 185$ case. I would also step down to GTX770/7970 GHz Ed. In order to buy a third monitor. In my opinion Eyefinity is a much better experience than an extra 10fps when it's already over 60 maxed out.

He wants a small form factor build, doesn't like the monster cases that ATX uses. By his standards, the 650d is too big

If you really want a small form factor then the 350D is actually pretty good. Also consider the Silverstone SG09 of SG10 and the Lian Li PC-A04. I also really like the Silverstone Fortress FT03 but they're not for everybody.

Otherwise take a look at the Corsair 650D, the Silverstone TJ0E-4, and the Lian Li PC-V700.

Also, as a side note, have you looked at the new Corsiar Vengence keyboards? They're all mechanical switches and look very nice.
