Hi Toms Hardware community, I know these types of questions are very common so I apologise..

I'm looking for advice on a new graphics card for my system. Around the $200 range is my budget, I'm looking at the following:

I have this motherboard:

With a Intel Core i5 661 @ 3.33ghz (is this CPU any good? is it worth upgrading with my graphics card upgrade?)

I have 16gb or RAM and I am unsure of the brand and a 500W PSU.

I'm specifically looking at the Gigabyte GPUs just to match the motherboard, they seem well priced and reliable from reviews. preferably Nvidia, I prefer their drivers over AMD, I have an AMD Radeon card in my Dell inspiron laptop.

I ask these questions as I wouldn't want to purchase a GPU that is too good for my current motherboard and CPU and waste money. The system is pretty much spot on 2 years old. My current card is a Nvidia GT 430 and it isnt very powerful.

I do HD video editing and rendering, no gaming.

Im looking for any advise on my system as far as upgrades go, even if I just purchase a mid-range GPU to suit the older system until its time to build a whole new one.

Thank you in advance.

well, i would've said gtx660 or 660ti would be better, but around that price/performance range, you only listed the 7850. the equivalent to the nvidia gtx 660. i've heard and read about alot of people going for the 7850 than the 660. but 660ti would be better.

Definitely the GTX 660 - probably the best your CPU will be able to drive (it's still good enough for gaming, IMO). You will see some infrequent drops in framerate in some games because of your CPU, so don't be shocked if you can't stay above 30fps at all times.
