Hello, I have a vanilla XPS 8300 and I need to update the GPU but don't want to swap the PSU. What's the best card I can buy today for this system?

Thanks in advance,
Palindrake

I think a HD7790 will be perfect for you. What's the brand and amperage on the 12v line of your psu? Because if it's a cheap one you might wanna think about swapping it before it turns your computer into a paper weight.

PSUs that came along with Dell desktops are often good ones from good OEM companies.

Well that 7850 is a really good deal with all the games included it only costs you about 40$ :p.

But i don't think your psu is going to like that to be honest.

Maybe Madn3ss knows better

Seemed good on that site but then actual Newegg price is 20$ higher. The cheapest 7850 currently costs 173$, thou. As for game bonus, many people are selling them around 15$ only.

HD7850 actually uses less power than 650ti boost under full load :bounce:

Thanks to both of you for your assistance. I just received my brand new ASUS 7850 and it all seems to work PERFECTLY. I ran a few plan sheets through Bluebeam and loaded mechwarrior online up and this card is amazing... Going from a 6450 to 7850 is a HUGE upgrade!

How do I use the HDMI? Currently I'm connected via HDMI to VGA to my monitor but wondering if HDMI would be better? Should I ask in another post maybe?

Thanks again you two!

So I went out and bought an HDMI cable. Do I turn the PC off, disconnect the DVI and connect the HDMI or do I need to do something special in the settings of the card?

I know, I'm a total Luddite :)
