My first post of inquiry as a new member. Please be kind enough to help me out ASAP.

I am going to buy a lappy.

Currently possess Acer Extensa 4620 powered by 1.83GH Intel Core 2 Duo with 2GB RAM & 160 GB HDD running W7U X32.

New Req: 1. Free DOS (Strictly). Not a admirer of W8. Will be installing W7U X64.
2. 500GB/1TB HDD
3. 4GB RAM (compulsory) and (Should be upgradable)

Main CONSIDERATION: I work on SDK's, IDE's and various High-End Simulators (No PS, Blender, Animation Soft or Video Editing; in short no Rendering needed) for development of software, medium end coding on Single Threaded Processes (Softies like MATLAB, ZEND, NETBEANS). So for me High performance Computing is Mandatory along with System Networking on Linux. (Will be installing RED HAT for Hands on Testing beside W7). At the end HD Entertainment and Medium-end gaming is optional, yet greedy to have it.

So I should opt for which kinda proc. AMD APU Dual/Quad Core or INTEL 3rd Gen i3/i5. Dedicated Single Graphics will be appreciated, but not dual, strictly Single coz I know Multi cores eat up a lot of power as well as heat up. Power consumption and cooling is also a big criteria. Zero portability, will be working at Home.

Budget is 30K (INR), can be squeezed to 3k more.
