Im looking at either a i5 3470/ fx 6300 with a hd 7870 for around 830-850 or a i5 3570k/fx 8350 with a 7850 for like 870-890 what would be the best way to go?

3470 http://pcpartpicker.com/user/ForteEXE/saved/1JK6

6300 http://pcpartpicker.com/user/ForteEXE/saved/1KtR

3570k http://pcpartpicker.com/user/ForteEXE/saved/1JKF

8350 http://pcpartpicker.com/user/ForteEXE/saved/1JKl

im not even sure if ocing is a necessity if i dont need it to play games on high setting for the next 3 years or so then i could care less about ocing thats why im considering the 3470 plus it outperforms both the amd processors in alot of benchmarks but if oc realy worth the extra money ill go with it then.

My gut kinda says go amd tho cuz they are sticking with the am+3 socket meaning i could upgrade to abetter cpu late without needed a new mobo if i went with say the 6300 now i could get a next gen amd model later like the fx 9000 series when there releases or w/e but i know intel is currently better so my brain says go intel even tho its a dead socket im so indecisive

i could possibly even throw a small ssd on the smaller builds say like a 32gb for like 50-60 bucks just to put the oping system on to speed it up some

what would you recommend?

There will be very little to no gaming performance increase over the 3470. The 7870 is considerably better than the 7850.

The 3470 build will game MUCH better than the 3570k build will.

I will tell you for the second time. The 3470 with the 7870 ghz will slaughter next gen consoles. By the time gaming has evolved enough to make use of more than quad core, those AMD processors will be underpowered and unable to compete with contenders that will release later.

Why did you make a second thread asking the same question? The consensus is clear, as it stands the 3470 will outperform, you dont need to OC to beat the next gen consoles. and the better graphics card of the 3470 will make a FAR bigger difference than the 3570k with a 7850. End Of.

If you want to have a PC to beat next gen consoles, that you can fine tune and improve yourself, then and only then is the 3570k worth it. If your not willing to put that extra effort on it, dont burn your money on it.

After all that about the Intel socket being dead, If there comes a point where AMD beats out the intel, Then you still have the entire I7 range of sandy and ivy bridge processors that will even the feild again and blow them away. And they fit the same socket as the 3470.

The best way to answer your, is OC worth it is to say.

Are you building a gaming console competitor, or are you building a PC.

If its the competitor, then no. If your building a PC that you want to last a long time, and beat the consoles harder the older they get. Then yes its worth it.
