Is there such a thing?

Effectively what I want to do is use my laptop wherever I feel the need and then when I come home I just switch on my laptop's bluetooth and set it on my desk and be connected to my external monitors, printers, speakers etc.

I know there are a number of USB docking stations, but I wanted to go a step further and have zero wires going from my laptop to the docking station. I even thought about trying to find some kind of Reverse Bluetooth Dongle, which rather than connecting a laptop's USB to a bluetooth device actually connects a laptop's bluetooth to a USB device. Then using that device to connect to the docking station.

Could I use a bluetooth dongle in the docking station and connect to that to achieve my required setup? Is this possible? Is there anything available? Am I crazy for thinking this? Surely I can't be the only one thinking this?

Solution
Bluetooth maximum speed is (theoretical) 3Mbps, which is about twenty times slower than regular 54Mbps WiFi. So running anything over it (apart from slow printer) will be painfully slow.

You need to connect at least power cable when you come home. Whether you will connect one (USB) or two (HDMI) more to the dock station does not make any difference.

The true solution to your problem would be to get a business-class laptop, which (most of them) are built with dock stations in mind.

This probably will answer your other question (about wireless monitors).
