The primary factor will be the GPU and tentatively I'd say yes for yours, it can run the games with max settings. Other than GPU , you've got the horsepower. Might look at some of the various reviews and BMs to get a better idea of FPS you can expect, any idea of what you'd like to see as far as FPS? Let me know and I'll pass a secret on to you

Ofcourse that will max out those games.

You will need a DVD drive for something at some point, is there a cheaper single layer 16x one?
Sound will not be an issue if you get a good 7970 with a good cooler such as the Sapphire one.

Another thing, you seem to be getting a high end system, but getting cheap RAM, why not go for 16GB of 2133? Sure it's double the cost for a 1-2% gain, but you know you want to.... And faster RAM = quicker loading.

At 720p you will be getting 10 million frames a second (that's a joke for you serious people).

8GB will be fine, you can always add more later. The Ripjawz are a great choice too. The main thing was 2133Mhz. I always wondered why my GF's pc would load everything faster, Windows, games, maps, levels. I was on 1600Mhz and she on 2133, so I donated to a friend and I got 2133 also. My e-peen is fixed now :p

Faster DRAM can help in gaming , it's not earth shattering but some, larger amounts of DRAM can also help, especially in games where you might be able to jump around from chapter to chapter or from a very intense graphical scene to another and back as the more DRAM you have the more can stay in memory rather than having to be read from a disk again or over the net for net-centric games..the DRAM itself will assist a bit in loading, but the bottleneck there is more oriented to coming off the drive.

On to the secret then - Something to thinks about, the faster you game, you can actually cause a what appears to be problems with your game or hardware...A typical monitor has a refresh rate of 60Hz which equates to it can completely rewrite the entire screen 60 times a second, so in effect you 'miss' some of those FPS, the higher the FPS the more you miss...so running extreme FPS for many is a mind thing, though this can make things appear faster or can make them look like they jump, the computer itself could care less, it just tells you how many FPS you it is popping

That's exactly what I tell people all the time, but there are tons of naysayers, that have read in some reviews that faster DRAM doesn't matter, which to a degree, it doesn't if all you do is email, or occasional browsing, but if you USE your system an especially if you do any multi-tasking, the higher freq and bandwidth that comes with it starts to shine

so you saying if my refresh rate is low and my fps are high i wont be getting my fuller fps so it will look jumpy or skipy

Not that it will, only it can, that's why I said it's a head thing, most people see higher FPS popping up and they think thats what they are seeing when if at 60Hz refresh that's the max the monitor can display doesn't matter if running 60 or running 160, higher FPS can also make actions on screen look faster than they are as you aren't seeing every Frame

Finally, someone that understands! And that's exactly it, Sometimes you have alot of things open and the moment that page file kicks in is just horrible. And as we move forward, new software will utilise more RAM.

More FPS won't mean skippy gameplay. I have that problem and it creates screen tearing which is annoying but turning on V-Sync causes input lag, although I have not tried Adaptive vsync yet...

Luv ya! Finally a voice of reason and sounds like experience. I've only been on these forums for about 6 days, and love to help people, but my primary purpose is keeping up with all the hardware out there. Ther's an awful lot of folks here that are well intentioned but don't really understand how systems work, most of what they know has been picked up from reading reviews (often written by people based strictly on established guidelines that do nothing more than give a basic idea of how one product compares to another, then try to throw in things they have read, Memory is one of the worst areas, which is why I tend to concentrate in this area here, I also do support and manage users as a volunteer Admin at GSkill's forums...hope to see you around alot

Thanks Tradesman. I'm in the same boat about helping people but I tend to specialize in graphics and some of everything else. I've been around here for a while and will be for ages, great forum.

Jagger, your TV should already be able to do 60hz, so you should be all fine. Can you tell us what TV you have? We need to know what inputs it has such as HDMI?

Pezonator,
glad to hear it, I don't really specialize in anything, when building for clients we go through everything, so I use the forums to try and keep up with all the hardware, but if I tried to help with GPUs, CPUs, PSUs, HDs SSDs, etc, etc, etc I'd never get away from the forums.....This has been interesting, I build some rigs for a small insurance office, all identical but for 1 a couple notches higher, so was just sort of kicking back for the most while they burned in and got all the software loaded, sort of boring, went out and did a couple small jobs from my home repair/remodeling business but thats about it, like every other day of the year, learned a few things each day
