Is my Asus motherboard broken or is it the ram?

I have the Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131851
It has a red LED next to the ram slots that says DRAM_LED. The instructions claim that this light will remain solid upon startup if there is a problem with the ram. This is the case with my computer. When I start it up my monitor does not recognize the computer and none of my USB peripherals have power. My computer was running just fine before I installed my new NZXT SEN-001LX fan controller. I had to take my ram cards out in order to fit it through drive bay slot. When I put them back in and started my computer all the fans and stuff came on but I get no monitor or keyboard/mouse. I tried my ram cards in each of the ports in different combinations and I tried my friend's ram cards and it did not solve the issue, the light stayed on. Does this mean it is an issue with the motherboard and will I have to get it replaced?
