My processor is i5-3570K

I accidentally dropped the processor when i was getting it out on the motherboard and stained the processor's back with thermal paste (not that much at least). I haven't tested it yet cause i lacked of power-supply. Will it still work?

Intel or AMD? Intel is fairly easy, clean it off with a tissue or if available a lint free cloth then gently clean with rubbing alcohol and a foam swap (like a clean makeup swab) could use a q-tip but they often leave cotton fibers behind, when clean let air dry for an hour or so at least.. AMD is tougher, if AMD let me know

Yes, just be gentle, think you'll be Ok...glad it's not AMD, they are a real Biatch (but they can be cleaned also)....might as well toss it out, I take a syringe and a bit of alcohol in it and drop a drop at atime to the affected area, then (and don't laugh!!) take a coffee filter (clean of course) and take and edge of it holding front and back and slide it down the row of pins affected, then the next row, and the next, etc, rotating the filter as you go, more alcohol as needed. When done do the same down the aisles at a 90 degree angle. Normally about two passes each way will do a decent to good job, check w/ a magnifying glass for touchup, let dry and then give it a try....You'd be surprised how often folks do this, though generally they get it on their fingers. It's always best to clean the top off BEFORE removing the CPU. I actually carry this stuff around in my tool bag with my networking and A/V tools
