How can I overclock my AMD FX-6100 CPU?

Hi there guys, first post so I would like to say Hi :)

My question really is how can start to overclock my FX-6100? I've had it at stock for a while but recently bought a Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Evo so wanted to have a go at overclocking. My aim really is for 4GHz/4.3GHz as this seems to be stable on my CPU from reports.

I am a real newbie at overclocking so I don't really know where to start.

Any help is appreciated :)

ASUS M5A97 AM3+ Motherboard,
AMD FX-6100 3.3GHz (No OC),
8GB DDR3-1600MHz (2x4GB),
MSI 7850 2GB Edition,
SanDisk Extreme 120GB SSD,
2x 500GB S-ATA HDD,
Lite-on iHas 124,
Aerocool XPredator X1 Midi case,
Cooler Master Hyper-TX3 Evo

The most basic way:
-Turn off all power saving options such as cool n quiet.
-Disable turbo boost.
-Leave voltage at auto for now. Increase your multiplier by .5
-Stess test it using a stress test program. I use Prime95.
-Watch your cpu temp (via coretemp, hwmonitor, etc.) and voltage (with cpu-z)
-Record your voltage. Look at how much the voltage increases by everytime you increase your multiplier.
-After awhile, you can manually set voltage and try to get the most stable OC while maintaining good temps.

Thanks for the reply but unfortunately, I don't understand what you mean by 'multiplier'. What am I to look for in terms of voltages and temps etc. Sorry I'm a complete noob at OCing. I have attached my UEFI OC page if that helps. These are all default settings.

So I did what you recommended but upon changing my Ratio to 20 (to give me 4000MHz), I can boot into Windows but as soon as everything loads I get a BSOD.

Is your voltage on auto?
Did you set it straight to 20 or did you go slowly?
I would suggest to go in 100mhz increments.
Also, what is your RAM. Look at your ram specifications and manually set them in. To set it to the mhz, its under memory frequency in the first screenshot
To set the CAS timings, its under DRAM Timing Control in the second screenshot
To set the voltage, its under DRAM voltage in the 3rd screenshot.

Got almost the same motherboard as you equipped with scythe ninja3, got my fx-6100 to 4.4 @ 1.44 i think? lowered it to 4.3 1.404v cause of summer room was getting like +30c and caused it to overheat..

now its running nice and stable

edit : incase you asking what i used( yes i know every overclocks differently )

18.0 multiplier

238 FSB

HTT 2388
same with the other one

voltage - manual - 1.41

edit ; my chip was pain in the a** to OC :D

Looking at all of this, it seems to be a hassle. I think I will give it a miss personally until I am confident about it and know what I am doing. I appreciate anything posted and thank-you for your time :)
