i recently bought a Wacom Cintiq display for Photoshop/Zbrush work and now constantly have to switch between my normal dual monitor display which i have for After Effects / Premiere Pro / Cinema 4D work to 1 monitor + Cintiq 12WX setup when retouching images and such.

Inconvenience of physically switching LaCie monitor and Cintiq display cables aside, i’m a little nervous i could end up damaging the card by pulling and pushing the card when switching cables (i have poor aim ;)

So i’m looking to buy a secondary PCI-E card which would support Cintiq display.

-inexpensive is preferred, i already have a relatively expensive one
-would prefer if it wouldn't get very hot - my Quadro 4000 card runs pretty hot
-If i could SLI bridge with Quadro 4000 - it would be super nifty. I’m not very knowledgeable in this area, so really don’t know if it would do much for performance or should i just keep them separately.

i was also looking into a DVI ox switch, but not sure if extra converter would degrade the signal - LaCie 324i monitor was bought for color correction and is somewhat capricious - so far i was only able to use DVI input for color calibration.

any suggestions would be appreciated

Solution
Would have been easy, with a different cpu, but the 3930k doesn't have integrated GPU. It would work as a second card otherwise. You can basically plug any cheap gpu in and connect the Cintiq. SLI would not work, because the second card acts as a "headless" slave. You can not connect additional screens to it. The problem with a second card may be the required driver. If don't know, if the Quatro drivers will work together with a NVIDIA consumer card. With a AMD card of cause you need to install, load/run and update two drivers. I was to lazy to research, if it works with the Cintiq, but this might be a handy solution: http://www.club-3d.com/index.php/products/reader.en/product/usb-to-dvi-i-graphic-adapter.html

sweet, i've never heard of USB2.0 to DVI converter thingie, thanks for the tip :)
particular brand you linked to your reply is not sold in US, but there are similar devices i found on NewEgg, will find out how compatible they are with Cintiq.

thank you!

update:

I ended up buying 5create JUA350 USB 3.0 to HDMI/DVI Display Adapter for the Wacom tablet, works fine, thanx, Noidea_77!!!

Using USB3.0 port to connect Wacom Cintiq 12WX display to my computer, i'm able to work on rather large Photoshop and Illustrator files without any noticeable lag.
Yay!

Great to hear that it works!
