I currently have an I5 650 w/ gtx670 4gb. I can max out pretty much any game but it only runs an average of 47fps on todays intense games like BF3 online. Yes, after plug and play with friends computers my CPU bottlenecks the GPU. Basically, I would like to get the most out of my gtx 670 ftw 4gb, but I don't want to have to do a full upgrade right now with Haswell. Since Intel released its roadmap and they are releasing Haswell-E enthusiast or extreme in the spring, I would much rather wait till then to do a full upgrade.
So the question is for $100-$200 is upgrading to an i7 860 wise and will this cpu bottleneck my gtx 670?

The money really isnt an issue, but I don't want to drop $600 now and then another $$$$$ when the Haswell-E series and x99 mb come out. I'd much rather drop $100-$200 now, unless you all think I'll still run into bottleneck issues, then I'll just stick with my I5 650 and hold out.

i5 650
asus pro mb (just one pci-e lane)
samsung 840 256 ssd (just bought)
8gb ram 1333
5x1tb segates
1000watt ocz zx (just bought)
GTX 670 FTW 4gb

Thanks,

wait for Hasewell-E if you can. or at least Ivybridge-E at the end of the year.

Ivybridge-E because, well, it's coming soon. won't bring too many new things, but in the worse case you'll see a price drop on sandybridge-E while you're waiting. otherwise just get Haswell, for gaming it is sufficient.

personally I would wait for Haswell-E if you can (coming sometime next year), simply because it will support DDR4 ram, along with god knows what else.

I honestly don't know enough about i7 860 to give any solid advice, but I don't know of many people with bottleneck issues on an i7 860

oh dd4, definitely will wait for Haswell-E, thanks for the info. well will continue digging what i can on an I7 860 been looking for the past 2 hours, couldn't find any compelling evidence yet that it won't bottleneck my gtx 670.
