Hi, I have encrypted an excel file, but I couldn't open it for some weird reason, I know the password, but I have no idea what program I should open it with, I only know I used the program protectexe to put a password on it.

Protectexe is "Protect EXE" meaning it puts a password on the launching of programs (EXE files). I did not think it protected program files.

Did you protect an Excel file, or the Excel PROGRAM itself?

It sounds to me that you protected the Excel PROGRAM and you are trying to launch an Excel file. Windows is automatically launching Excel to run the Excel file and ProtectEXE is asking you for the password.

If you put in the password I would think Excel would launch the file.

If this is not the case, please explain.

I did protect the FILE, but it just says it encrypted it with a 256 bit code, and when i try to open it it says that it is not a valid windows 32 file

You should probably read the HELP file for ProtectEXE and look at the site Forum for answers.

You appear to have encrypted the file, but are having issues decrypting it. Is ProtectEXE launching the Window to ask for your password to decrypt the file or not?
