Hello

So i wanted to get a 4gb stick of ram that is same in all aspects except size. I have 2x2 gb syticks but i want to put one 2 gb stick in a different computer and use a 2gb and 4gb stick together. Is there any noricable difference between single and dual channel? The only things being done on the 6gb ram comp is internet surfing and games such as bf3 and gta and stuff. The other comp that would have 2gb is just for internet surfing and prbly my brother's minecraft games. So is there a difference between the channels and would 2gb suffice for the smaller comp? Both have win7 64 bit

Thanks

Hello,:hello:

Could you provide me with the system model name and number or the motherboard number of your system (or laptop model) of the both the computers? You need to make sure if your system supports a single 4GB module. Also if you are going to install the 2GB memory to the other computer you need to make sure whether both the system supports the same memory type.

As for the difference in performance between Single and Dual channel you can refer the above post by Tradesman1. Yes, anything between 2GB - 4GB is good for basic usage like surfing, small games etc. But you must ask the question yourself if you are not going to use the computer for anything memory intensive then 2GB will do else you will have to consider upgrading. Hope that explains. Looking forward to your reply.:hihi:
