I have an older case I'd like to use to house a socket 1155 motherboard, an i5 or i7 processor, a reasonably serious video card, at least 8 gigs of RAM, probably three or four hard drives, and a 650-750 watt power supply.

I'd like to know, please, whether this is feasible.

It's an Antec SX1000II ATX case that I bought new in 2004. It handles an ATX-Extended motherboard comfortably. At 21 inches tall, it's very roomy inside. It has two external 3.5" bays, four internal 3.5" bays, and four 5.25" bays. It can accomodate two cooling fans in the rear and has a good sized front vent. On the rear, there's a space to insert the I/O panel shield (correct term?) specific to the motherboard.

Here are some pictures. If you want higher resolution shots, I'm happy to provide.

The front USB met its demise some time ago. I was already planning to replace it with an internal card reader with USB ports, so, that's not such bad news. And such readers can be had with audio ports as well.

Why not go LGA 1150?

Money. Alas.
