Anyone has installed a Noctua NH-12s or a NH-14s on a Asus P9X79 PRO ?

I'm deciding between this two coolers, but I gotta make sure that I'll be able to use all my memory slots, fulfilled with Corsair Vengeance or G-skills Ripjaw Z Series... And also I don't wanna loose my first graphics cards PCIe. As you can see at 0:34 on this video, it seems that the NH-14s blocks the first PCIe Slot a little.

The CPU will be a i7 3930k. Not a gaming computer but a audio workstation, so I need a descent cooling but not noisy. Any suggestions on other quiet/efficient options would be appreciated. I don't want a water cooler tho...

If you go liquid cooled such as H60 or H100i it'll be both cooled a lot, allowing for

good OC'ing, it'll be quiet and it'll be low profile too.

I don't know, I just don't like the idea of a big radiator in my rig, dealing with water and the risk of leaking water on the circuit when moving and stuff like that. Although liquid coolers seems to be quiet, it's not on the same level of a noctua cooler at least on their official noise specs.

It's closed loop though I think, so there's not going to be much risk. But I understand the fear.

With the right fans (good static pressure) your system will run cooler faster, and probably quieter with something like the H100i. There is no risk involved because it is closed loop, as long as you have the space for a 240mm rad on the top.. you will benefit from it. I am def an advocate for it. I am running on the 3930k, oc 4.2, in the chaser mk-1 case, with g skills 4x8gb, and gtx 650 ti boost.

Do you have to put water on it periodically ? I mean... It looks like a car radiator, in which we have to put water periodically.

Not at all! It has its own cooling liquid and you never have to adjust a single bolt, washer or nut. it comes with 2 fans, that you can replace if you wish or add 2 more for a push pull config, and heat sink goes on the cpu and thats it. just clean the inside as normal (dust and all) and you should be fine. Very easy and its does cool faster than a air cooler. You are getting the same cpu i have, so I am assuming you will over clock at least a little... the faster cool down is better for you and will over all make the system quieter. since the fans wont have to ramp up due to heat.
