Power Surge Issue - New Build

Hey guys/gals, I have an issue with a new build. My computer turns off automatically. Asus motherboard has this auto shut down mechanism to prevent power surges from damaging hardware. Thing is, I don't know why it's doing this. Could it really be a faulty/defective power supply? I have a cx600 power supply. Or is it something else...? Sucks, 'cuz it's a new build...everything went smoothly until this.. This problem also occurs when I first build the the rig. It turned back on automatically so I thought nothing of it. It wasn't until I installed a fan that it did it again. Now it does it every so often randomly while I'm on.

system specs/hardware:

-Crafted Series Phantom 410 Mid Tower ATX Computer Case - Black
-CX Series CX600M 600 Watt ATX Modular Power Supply
-Vengeance Series 8GB DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) CL9 Dual Channel Desktop Memory Kit (Two 4GB Memory Modules)
-Core i5 3570K 3.4GHz LGA 1155 Processor
-seagate hd 1tb
-P8Z77-V LK LGA 1155 Z77 ATX Intel Motherboard
-GT640-2GD3 NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 2048MB DDR3 PCIe 3.0 x16 Video Card
-24x Super Multi Internal SATA DVD±RW DL Drive

Would be grateful if someone experienced with this type of subject matter (power supplies/surges) could drop by and throw a few possible problems. I want to know if it's my new power supply or maybe if it's something else that's causing the issue. In the mean time, I am trying to make sure everything is plugged in appropriately.

Doubtful it has anything to do with power surges.

For something like this i would look for four things -

Cooling issue - cpu frying itself so emergency shutdown. Make sure your heatsink and fan are seated well and working.

Faulty / stuck on off switch. Pull the switch from the motherboard header and short it with a small screwdriver to start the comp. if no shutoff issues thats your issue.

bad connection - look for dumb stuff like a motherboard standoff accidentally hitting the mobo, check all power supply cables and reseat them etc.

bad power supply. Test with a known good power supply.

Thank you for the response. I don't think it's a cpu issue. My bios detects low to average temperature ranges. I try to check for the faulty/ stuck on off switch. I really hope it's not a bad power supply, but probably better that this is the issue as opposed to something more serious.

Oh and the reason I mentioned power surge was because the asus power surge protector was activated and shut everything down. Unless that mechanism is so sensitive it does it to every little non issue. Anyways, is a faulty/defective power supply common for something like a corsair cx series?

This is only something I've seen in ASROCK motherboards since I have only ever used them, but there's a feature in them that may be present in yours that turns the computer on automatically if it gets power, meaning that you can have the power supply connected up and then flip the mains switch to turn the computer on if you catch my drift? So potentially your computer is losing power and then regaining it? Whenever my dearest mother starts hoovering, the lights dim (no other power issues) so yeah check that it isn't anything like that by trying different wall outlets.
