so I currently am running a 560ti sc edition. I am considering purchasing a 7850 gpu this month, then a second for crossfire next month. is this a good upgrade path? all of my other parts work pretty well.

here are my specs:

asus rampage IV extreme
core i7 3820
8gb 1600mhz g-skill ram 2x4gb

will there be any bottlenecks? any issues?

It is almost always better to buy the single best card you can buy instead of a lower cost one now and a 2nd one later. Single cards produce half the heat/noise and use half the power w/out any microstuttering issues. Drivers also aren't optimized as well for 2+ card solutions and AMD's drivers are less optimized this generation for CF than nVidia.

If you are set on getting an AMD gpu, the 7950 would work great for you, otherwise the 7970 would be the best option.

EDIT: I should mention that getting two 7850's in cf is not a BAD thing either. They'll still work great.

If you're not running multiple monitors, a single more powerful card will suit you better across more game titles. Scaling in crossfire/sli is around 30-40% last I heard? You are paying for a whole other video card and will only be able to utilize a third of it

All bets are off I guess, if you just have a lot of money to burn.

right not xfire drivers have some know issues so they don't perform as they should. Also its almost always better to buy the strongest card you can then if you need to/want too xfire/sLI down the road like months or years down the road. If you really want to use two cards now I would recommend nvida at this time. And this is comming from some one with two 7870 LE in xfire.

The 7850 is not that much stronger than a GTX560ti.
You would be disappointed if you did not notice the difference.

I suppose you could sli the GTX560ti.
Nvidia seems to do better with dual cards than amd as far as consistency is concerned.

If you can, sell the GTX560ti and replace it with the strongest card your wallet and psu will support.
That would probably be a GTX670 or 7970 class card or better.
