Thank you for taking the time to reply. I'm guessing you don't know of such a device. I'm glad you don't have any issues. In my case, I'm using a Cortex HDC-1000 dual audio player. As you know, when a USB device is first installed, it will itdentify itself. Part of this identification is what flavor of USB it is. Much like when you plug a USB2 device into a USB1.1 slot on a Windows machine, it will tell you that you can get better performance using a USB2 capable slot.
Unfortunately, the Cortex was developed before knowledge of the existance of USB3 by engineers more concerned about audio performance and functionality than future-proofing USB communications. Thus, when a USB3 device is plugged into it and identifies itself as a USB3 device, the Cortex says WTF and hangs. This renders all USB3 storage devices useless, plus since it is hung up with this unexpected response of the USB3 device, it won't recognize any USB2 device that is plugged in after the USB3 device has sent the controller into an infinite tailspin.
It is getting harder and harder to find USB2 boxes for HDD, and USB3 flash drives are becoming more popular and abundant by the minute. I fear that in four years it will be very difficult to find USB2 anything. Just as it is virtually impossible to find SD flash cards anymore. I should have bought a bunch more of those when they were available. But, that's not the point here.
I use the Cortex in an environment where I have people bring in their music on USB devices. As time marches on, I feel that there will be more and more people who bring their music on USB3 devices, and those are not usable. Hence, I would like an adapter that when a USB3 device is plugged into it, it tells the controller that it is a USB2 device so it won't hang and render the player useless.
So, with all those words, the question is still the same, I am searching for an adapter (hopefully a cable) to make a USB3 device appear as a USB2 device to the controller. I was kinda hoping that question was clear, but perhaps it wasn't. I'm not sure how to word it differently.
