My GPU was running fine on games until it was starting to slow. I checked the temperature on the GPU and it reached 101C (I did double check and it was on C). No problem, I just wait until I can afford an older GPU to hold off on until I have enough for a new computer. But then when I checked on the temp with GPU-Z, the temp went up to 140C and it's still rising while I was on Youtube. It froze a couple of times, so I reset my computer and checked the temp, and it was at 150C. What should I do? I cleaned it before, but it only got higher. Should I get another GPU, or go for a new computer? My GPU is a NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT.

As old as that gfx card is, it probably has dried out (or nearly non-existent) thermal paste between GPU heat spreader and cooler heat sync. take it apart and clean the old stuff off with isopropyl alcohol and replace with new thermal paste. 4 screws on the back of the card should remove the cooler from the GPU.

Better yet for cleaning: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Well, when I have the money, I will give Clutchc's suggestion a shot and see if it works.
