Hello guys,

I'm planning to buy a Sennheiser PC 360 to improve the sound quality while playing games.
Before this, I own a Plantronics .Audio 995.

My question is, I need a suggestion should I buy a sound card to fully maximize the headset? or the on-board sound card on my motherboard is more than enough?

If it does, then I'm planning to buy a Creative SB ZX, my reason is because I like the 'Accessible Audio Control Module'.

What you guys think?

anyway this is my pc build:
- i5-2500k
- Asus Sabertooth Z77
- Asus GTX 670 DirectCU II
- Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB 1866Mhz
- Seasonic M12II 650Watt 80+ Bronze.

That's all up to you. I personally use my PC 350's off the internal card but I have a well built system with no audible system hum or buzz people talk/complain about with on-board audio.

That said again, my headphones connect up through my speaker system also so I still have an external control system... So that's still possible without actually buying a sound card. But do what you want.

More important is setting up the sound properly. People think they need 5.1 headphones to get proper sound. They don't realize they don't do JACK. You only have two ears... Two points of sound input. Two quality headphones can give you true surround sound effects. My PC350's offer perfect positional sound in supported games no problem, where-as people with so-called surround units are looking around for where the sound came from... That's another topic though. Anyhow, just make sure your system has no interference, buzzing or humming and your about 85/90% there. The rest is gravy or extras. If you DO have buzzing or humming, then you have a bad internal unit and/or power source that needs attention. But honestly most of the newer models aren't bad anymore like they used to be.

Thank you for the reply,
perhaps I should add that I don't have a good speaker system (because you said you connect your headphones to your Speaker system). I only use speakers when I'm browsing, watching youtube, etc. Only when I'm gaming I use the Headsets.
Currently I have a 2.0 USB powered speaker (price around $9), which I'm sure, is not as good as the one you have.

To my understanding (sorry if I'm wrong, my english is not very good) do you recommend me to connect the headsets to a good quality speaker, rather than buying a sound card?

OK, I will go carefully so you can understand easily.

If your power supply in your computer is high quality, and the motherboard is relatively new. (If you are not sure give us the make and model numbers and we can tell you if the board is a quality type or not from the sound card stand point).

But if everything in the rig is good hardware in good shape, then add on cards become just extra fluff at that point. However, if you've hardware isn't the greatest or in the best state, then the extra card can absolutely make all the difference in sound quality and clarity. So it is up to you, as I said, but what I meant was it is up to your system.

Yes, I already give my PC spec / build in the first post of this thread, (I'm not sure if you miss it or not) but here it is:
