a few days ago I re-installed my PC windows because it worked so slowly. then when choosing the disk to be installed, my hard drive was not found. I've had the same problem before on my laptop and I repaired it through chkdsk in command prompt. It worked, but I lost all the files.

I tried to connect my internal hard disk from my pc to my laptop using USB 2.0 to sata IDE cable. The result was like this:

Here is the specs of my hard disk:
seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500 GB
S/N: 5VMN5RHN
ST3500418AS
P/N: 9SL142-303
firmware: CC46
Date Code: 11244
site code: SU

Is there any way to repair my hard disk and to get my data back? The data are very important. They belong to my sisters and my father.

I heard about spinrite 6.0, will it work? will I lose my data if I use spinrite?

OK! Since the inner data is fairly important for you, you'd better tried to get back all your data at first before it is to late.

In my opinion, you have to ways to go:
1). Try some data recovery software to restore your data back, especially some drive data recovery freeware.
Since we are not sure whether your drive is died indeed, you could firstly try some drive data recovery freeware to take chances, these drive data recovery freeware could not only give you some possibilities to completely retrieve your data, you also have no need to worry about the money.

Just opt for a free drive data recovery program for yourself online:

2). Take it to a professional data recovery expert or company.
If the data recovery freeware don't change anything, a data recovery service could be taken into your consideration. Just give it a shot.

Good luck!
