My iMac is hanging on the white boot screen. It didnt even chime on boot up. i did Command-Option-P-R and it chimed, now it chimes everytime i boot but hangs on the white screen with the grey apple. I've also tried holding the option key after the chime and chose Recovery HD, but still nothing happens. Still hangs on white screen after the chime.

try command-r, it will bring you to a screen with recovery options if you are on lion or mountain lion
